Alabama signee Myra Gordon of Hurst L.D. Bell is latest Dallas-area girls basketball star sidelined by significant injury

Gordon, the area’s leading scorer last season, is expected to miss 4-5 weeks.

Add Alabama signee Myra Gordon of Hurst L.D. Bell to the growing list of Dallas-area girls basketball stars who are out with significant injuries.

Gordon said Monday that she suffered a strained hamstring in a win over Southlake Carroll on Nov. 15 and the injury is expected to sideline her for four to five weeks. Gordon, the area’s leading scorer at 27.4 points per game last season, hopes to return for L.D. Bell’s district opener against Haltom on Dec. 17.

Five of the top 20 recruits in the area are currently out with injuries. The area’s No. 4 (Plano’s Jordyn Merritt), No. 5 (Mansfield Legacy’s Harmoni Turner) and No. 19 (Sachse’s Jayla Brooks) recruits suffered season-ending torn ACLs, and the No. 1 recruit in the state — Baylor signee Sarah Andrews of Irving MacArthur — strained her ACL last week and is expected to miss four to six weeks.

L.D. Bell is ranked No. 18 in the state in Class 6A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, and the team is 5-0 with Gordon in the lineup and 2-2 without her. The three-star senior guard is ranked by SportsDay as the sixth-best recruit in the Dallas area in the Class of 2020, and she was an all-state selection last season.
