Bahrain has again warned Iran against interfering in its internal affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the charge d' affaires of Iran's Embassy in Bahrain and presented him a formal memorandum of protest against recent irresponsible statements made by the leadership in Tehran.

“Ambassador Abdullah Abdullatif Abdullah, undersecretary at the ministry, expressed Bahrain's strong condemnation and rejection of these statements,” SPA reported.

The undersecretary described Iranian action as an unacceptable interference in its internal affairs and a violation of the UN principles.

Such remarks adversely affect regional security and stability and the nature of relations between UN member states, said the ministry.

The undersecretary stressed the need for full compliance with the principles of good neighborliness.

He called on Iran to respect Bahrain’s sovereignty and independence.

He also emphasized the need to put an immediate end to such irresponsible statements and other forms of interference in Bahrain’s affairs and instead pay attention to the Iranian people and work to improve their conditions.
