MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Investigators say a driver was cited after a deputy rescued that person from a vehicle overnight.
Flooding and high water prompted several water rescues Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Rutherford County Sheriff’s officials say deputies rescued several drivers from stalled vehicles after they drove around barriers and got stuck.
According to a release, Deputy Nikolas Madore waded into almost waist-high water to rescue a driver on Sulphur Springs Road near West Buckeye Bottom Road Thursday morning. The driver was cited for failure to exercise due care, driving around a barricade and failure to abide by a traffic control device.
Remember: Turn around and don’t drown.
Three people were also rescued from a home on S Windrow Road. The first floor of the home was reportedly under water, leaving the residents trapped on the second floor.
Emergency crews responded to rescues in several areas of the county.
