3 Aurora Gang Members Arrested With Illegal Guns: Police

Two 23-year-old men were arrested Tuesday night alongside a 16-year-old after police investigated a gathering on Aurora's east side.

AURORA, IL — Three Aurora gang members were arrested on gun charges Tuesday night after a caller reported a gathering on the city’s east side, according to police. Leotray Davis and Wesley Harmon, both 23, were arrested alongside a 16-year-old male in the 400 block of Melrose Avenue, police said.

The Aurora Police Department’s Special Operations Group, which investigates gang-related activity in the city, received a tip Tuesday that there were multiple guns at that location, according to a news release. As officers approached the group on Melrose Avenue, several people ran away and two people were seen throwing handguns, police said.

Davis, Harmon and the male juvenile were arrested with help from members of the department’s Patrol Division and Community Oriented Policing Unit, the release states. Police said they found three illegal guns in the area of the gathering.

Woman, 61, Arrested After Sunday Night Shooting: Police

Davis and Harmon were charged with one felony count each of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a street gang member and possession of a firearm with a revoked or invalid Firearm Owners Identification card, according to Kane County court records. Harmon faces an additional felony count of possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number, and Davis was also charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting or obstructing a police officer, according to court records.

Aurora Man Injured In Gang-Related Shooting: Police

Davis and Harmon are being held at the Kane County Adult Justice Center on $100,000 and $75,000 bail, respectively.

The 16-year-old male arrested Tuesday was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a person under 21, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by an adjudicated delinquent, possession of a firearm by a street gang member, possession of a firearm without a Firearm Owners Identification card, aggravated assault and resisting arrest, court records state.
