The third woman has not yet been identified, but police said all of the victims were ages 23-25.

According to Suffolk Police, the women were in a 2010 black Jeep Liberty that was going northbound on Mount Sinai-Coram Road when it overturned onto the driver’s side and crashed into the utility pole about a mile north of Hamlet Drive.

A retired FDNY member tried to assist the women, but was unable to get to them because of active power lines laying on the car and the flames.

"He attempted everything he could possibly do to help the girls out in the car, but, tragically, was unable to help,” Suffolk Det. Lt. David Teufel said at the crash scene Tuesday, according to a CBS 2 report.

Neighbors also ran to the scene to attempt to help.

"I opened the window automatically and I could hear them screaming, asking for help. ‘Help! Help!' Laura Howe, who lives on Mount Sinai-Coram Road, told CBS.

All three women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, but witnesses said it does not appear that speed was a factor and there was no indication that a deer was involved.

At this time, police said there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor. Police are also checking cellphone records, but investigators have not found any evidence to suggest the driver was texting at the time, the New York Post reported.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 of Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
