MADISON (WLUK) -- Wisconsin has its most people hospitalized with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus, in 10 days, as new infections continue to increase.
Wisconsin hospitals on Monday say they are caring for 254 people with COVID-19, 10 more than on Sunday and the most since June 26. Of those, 66 are in intensive care units, one more than on Sunday. Another 172 patients are waiting for their test results.
Those numbers are lower than a month ago, however, when 352 people were in the hospital and 124 in intensive care.
The state Department of Health Services on Monday reported 484 new cases of coronavirus and 4,802 negative tests. The 9.2% positive rate was lower than Sunday's 10.4%.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 32,061 confirmed cases and 588,913 negative tests.
For the third consecutive day, the state reported no new deaths. The overall death toll in Wisconsin remains at 796.
DHS considers 25,242 people to have recovered from COVID-19.
Of the 11,400 hospital beds in Wisconsin, 2,710 are available. The state has 1,263 ventilators, with 285 in use.
