HSBC appoints Karel Doshi as commercial banking business head in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: HSBC has appointed Karel Doshi as head of commercial banking (CMB) in Malaysia, effective July 1.

Karel will be responsible for one of the leading commercial banking franchises in Malaysia, servicing SMEs, mid-markets, large corporates and international subsidiaries.

In a statement, HSBC Bank Malaysia Bhd said Karel will report regionally to Amanda Murphy, head of commercial banking, South & Southeast Asia and in Malaysia to Omar Siddiq, chief executive officer, HSBC Bank Malaysia.

Karel joined HSBC in 2007 and brings diverse coverage and advisory experience spanning corporate, commercial and investment banking.

In addition, Karel is a strong advocate of gender equality and is co-chair for the regional and local diversity and inclusion committees in HSBC. She is also a member of the 30% Club and Lean In Malaysia.
