Celebrity bedding has become quite the talking point this season. It’s nothing that would trouble the sidebar of shame, however. I refer to the fashion for famous” women — from professional girls next door to soap stars and modelpreneurs — launching bed linen collections.

There’s a formula for celebrity bedding. The palette is white, blush pink and grey, and possibly duck egg too. Frequently there is sparkle and silky textures, often man-made fibres. It is bedding of the type that features cushions. Many, many cushions. Some with “love” written in sequins (thanks, Tess Daly) or “serenity” on a diamanté-embellished cover (ta, Rita Ora) or dripping with silver tassels (that’ll do, Caprice).
