Netflix released the first trailer for Always Be My Maybe on Thursday.
The comedy follows Sasha (Ali Wong) and Marcus (Randall Park), two childhood sweethearts who had a falling out. After 15 years, the two reconnect as adults when they run into each other in San Francisco.
Keanu Reeves, Daniel Dae Kim, Charlyne Yi, Vivian Bang and Karan Soni also star in the film, which was directed by Nahnatchka Khan.
The trailer opens with an introduction to Sasha’s exciting life as a celebrity chef. After she walks a red carpet with fiancé Brandon Choi (Kim), he ignores her on the car ride home.
Sasha soon returns to her hometown of San Francisco to help open a restaurant. While moving into her new home, Sasha runs into Marcus as he helps her unpack as a mover. A quick montage recaps their past relationship, which began in 1996.

As the two catch up, Marcus asks when Sasha’s wedding is. While Sasha originally answers that she and Brandon are holding off on the wedding so they can travel, he soon breaks off the engagement over a phone call. “I hope you get malaria and shit yourself to death, you shitty piece of shit,” she tells Brandon.
“I guess I have to start dating again,” she later tells Marcus. “Is there anything worse?”
As Sasha dreads reentering the world of dating, many of her peers question why she and Marcus never dated as adults. “There’s way too much history there,” Sasha says.
When Marcus finally builds up the nerve to ask out his childhood love, she surprises him by sharing that she met someone. “That’s so great,” he hesitantly says before she announces that they had “intense” and “freaky” sex.
The trailer concludes with a brief look at Sasha’s new love interest, who is played by Reeves.
Always Be My Maybe will be available to stream on Netflix on May 31.
