FRAMINGHAM, MA — As coronavirus cases continue to rise in Framingham, city officials announced Monday that police will begin fining property owners who violate Gov. Charlie Baker's guidelines on public gatherings.

Framingham reported 33 new cases over the weekend, which is one of the highest increases in recent weeks. Health officials believe one of the main ways the virus is spreading is at events and parties.

From now on, anyone caught violating the state's order on gatherings could face a $500 fine.
