Doddridge County in ‘red’ with rising COVID-19 numbers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Doddridge County was marked as ‘red’ on the COVID-19 daily map released by the state Department of Health and Human Resources Wednesday.

Both the county’s rolling 14-day average for new COVID-19 cases (25.37) and the daily positivity rate (8.4%) are in the ‘red’ category.

The state confirmed 263 new COVID-19 Wednesday. The statewide daily positivity rate is 4.21%.

The state DHHR reported four additional deaths including an 83-year old male from Berkeley County, a 73-year old male from Kanawha County, a 94-year old male from Kanawha County, and a 67-year old male from Summers County. Total deaths are now at 391.

West Virginia now has the eighth lowest Rt Value, which measures the estimated rate of spread of the virus, at .95.

According to the DHHR, West Virginia now has a pandemic-high 180 people hospitalized with the virus. There are 61 patients in ICU and 28 of them are being treated on ventilators.
