Harold Hawkins, 80, died on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, in a local hospital.
He was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was a former employee of Tennessee Valley Authority and retired from the city of Chattanooga, where he was affectionately known by his friends and co-workers as "The Hawk."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cora and Harry Hawkins; daughter, Sandra Hawkins; and son, Derrill King.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Hawkins; son, Larry Hawkins, of Cleveland, OH; daughter, Michelle (Alvin) Hawkins, of Olmsted Falls, OH; grandchildren, Ivor (Kenyatta ) King, Tanille King, Adrian King and Tenisha King, all of Chattanooga; twin brother, Harry (Diane) Hawkins, of Columbus, OH; sister, Gladys (Elmer) Thomas, of Chattanooga; nephews, Alvin Thomas, of Chattanooga, Erwin Hawkins, of Cleveland, OH, Michael (Pam) Hawkins, of Garfield Heights, OH, and Wesley Hawkins, of Euclid, OH; nieces, Teresa Fleming and Elwanda (Arthur) Turner, of Detroit, MI, Celestine Walton, of Chattanooga, Denise Hawkins Mills, of Akron, OH, and Vanessa (Darryl) Caldwell, of Chattanooga; several great-nieces and great-nephews; devoted cousin, Porter McKamey; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Walter Lindsey officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Family hour will be held from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the McCallie Avenue Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Directors.
