West Virginia sees coronavirus cases increase by 202

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia health officials confirmed 202 coronavirus cases between Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening, a new record for the state.

The state Department of Health and Human Resources announced 3,707 total cases have been identified throughout the pandemic compared to 3,505 cases noted in its Tuesday evening report. The department also noted there are 964 active cases as of Wednesday evening.

Around 79% of the positive cases are of white West Virginians.

Wednesday’s daily percentage rate of positive cases is 6.14% compared to the cumulative rate of 1.91%.

Ninety-five West Virginians have died in connection with the pandemic since its start in March.
