MOORHEAD — Alison Mischke and Steele Johnson of Williston, North Dakota, were all set to get married November 28. It was the height of the pandemic surge in Fargo-Moorhead.
"Rescheduling a wedding is a nightmare," Mischke said. "We have about 200 guests coming into our wedding."
The two now have a new date set for mid-June at Rustic Oaks in south Moorhead. Mischke and Johnson will be one of many couples tying the knot this summer as the pandemic begins to fade from our lives.
"This year we are doing receptions for many brides, if they had a wedding ceremony last year, we are doing their reception this year," said Shanelle Klein for Rustic Oaks.
It's not just more couples planning weddings this summer. Many couples are planning retreats and meetings, things they didn't get done last year.

Rustic Oaks says a lot of outdoor space and large buildings on the farm site has been a selling point to businesses and brides who want a big, yet safe event.
"May 1 is the our first official wedding of the season and after that we are consecutively busy, throughout the whole summer which is great," Klein said.
For Mischke, she is hanging on to her old invitations and wedding items from last fall as they are part of their wedding story yet to be told.
"What I am going to tell my children and grandchildren, is that one day we tried to get married and we had a two-year engagement," Mischke said.
