Coronavirus Hospitalizations In Alabama Decreasing

MONTGOMERY, AL — While the Alabama Department of Public Health confirmed 710 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, the state also reported the fewest number of patients hospitalized with the virus since June.

According to Wednesday's ADPH report, 716 people remain hospitalized in the state due to COVID-19. The state also confirmed four fatalities from the virus Wednesday, bringing Alabama's coronavirus death total to 2,257.

Total, Alabama has reported 127,523 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, out of 1,025,773 people tested. In the last two weeks, the state has confirmed 8,914 new cases of the virus.

Jefferson County continues to pace the state in new COVID-19 cases, as the county reported more than double the number of new cases than any other county in the state Wednesday.

The counties reporting the most new cases Wednesday:

• Jefferson County: 149 new cases; 17,746 total
• Madison County: 57 new cases; 6,956 total
• Tuscaloosa County: 56 new cases; 5,714 total
• Shelby County: 43 new cases; 4,767 total
• Mobile 39 new cases; 12,571 total
