ANNAPOLIS, MD — The state fire marshal's office has determined the cause of a trailer fire that occurred after 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Maryland State House in Annapolis. The six-foot by 12-foot enclosed trailer was engulfed in flames when first spotted by Maryland Capitol Police officers, but firefighters from the Annapolis fire department, Anne Arundel County fire department and the Naval District Washington-Annapolis station quickly extinguished it.

Firefighters combed the area to make sure the trailer fire had not sparked any secondary fires. No injuries were reported. According to the state fire marshal's office, the accidental fire was caused by a “malfunctioning, diesel-fueled steam cleaner” that was located in the utility trailer parked by the State House in the 100 block of State Circle near School Street.
