Ground broken for $1 billion Frisco community with thousands of homes

Builders are kicking off construction on one of the largest new home projects in Frisco.

The Lexington Park is planned on part of the Brinkmann Ranch.

Landon Development purchased 637 acres of the sprawling ranch property on the west side of Coit Road between Main Street and Eldorado Parkway last summer.

Construction just started on the $1 billion development that is planned to include thousands of houses and apartments.

“I am excited to begin development of this community of over 4,000 residential units, including over 2,000 single family homes,” John Landon, president and CEO of Landon Development, said in a statement. “These homes will have multiple builders with varied housing styles and will be broken into smaller communities with different housing prices from $400,000 to $1,000,000.

“There are also plans for a retail center with neighborhood shops and a grocery store.”

Home sales in the Lexington Park community will start late this year.

The huge residential project will include neighborhood parks, hike-and-bike trails and sites for an elementary, middle and high school. A resort-style community center with fitness facilities and pool are being designed by Colorado architect KH Webb.

Landon’s new Lexington Park property is across the street from the builder’s successful Lexington Country community, which has about 1,100 homes.

The Lexington Park land was part of the more than 5,000-acre Brinkmann Ranch, which is at Preston Road and Main Street in the heart of Frisco.

Parts of the Brinkmann Ranch were used in the 1970s to film the Dallas television series.

Landon Homes builds in more than a dozen North Texas communities. Most of the company’s houses in Frisco are priced starting at more than $570,000.
