The Asian Chef of the Year 2018 for the North West province was announced as none other than Manchester’s own Mohammed Miah, when the eighth Asian Curry Awards took place in London last month.

With 40 years of professional experience under his belt, with 14 of them as the executive chef of Aman Indian Restaurant, situated next to Failsworth Pole, the title was awarded to Miah for the second time, having also won the title previously in 2015.

Organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF), around 1,000 VIP guests were in attendance at the awards hosted at Grosvenor House in London on the 18th November.

The only accolades dedicated to the spectrum of pan-Asian cuisine in Britain, the Asian Curry Awards recognise the best curry restaurants and takeaways across the nation. To be the recipient of an Asian Curry Award is highly regarded amongst those in the profession and community.

Upon winning, Chef Miah stated: “To win this title again is the greatest vote of confidence I could wish for, not just for myself, but for my team who work so hard to make things happen at the Aman Indian Restaurant. The award will inspire us to keep improving and I’d also like to thank all our customers for their help putting us on the map.”

The shortlist was determined by over 100,000 votes from members of the public, with a team of judges touring the country to determine the winners and seeing the increasingly high standards of the UK’s Asian restaurants.
