PUMPING IRON

Bodybuilding banker who packs on muscle by eating SIX meals a day is preparing to compete in a bikini championship in Miami

Shivani Vaghela has a high powered job in the city but still works out FIVE times a week

THIS bodybuilding banker has revealed the secret to her success – a diet of jelly beans and rice cakes.

Shivani Vaghela, 36, works full time in a demanding city job at one of the top banks but also spends six nights a week in intense training at the gym.

The Londoner eats six meals a day as she prepares to compete in a bikini competition in Miami.

Determined Shivani said: “Competing is not for the faint hearted, it’s expensive, takes up a huge amount of time and is a massive commitment.

“Day to day getting to the gym on time can be tough – sometimes I leave the office to get to the gym for 9pm when it closes and have to get back on my laptop after!”

The 36-year-old was inspired to pursue bodybuilding after discovering weight lifting just two years ago.

She describes herself as being “skinny fat” before she ventured into the weights room she was held back by the belief that her body couldn’t improve and become stronger in her 30s.

This weekend Shivani is entering her very first body building competition in the “Ms. Bikini over 35” divisions of the Miami Pro Universe competition after months of gruelling training and regimented diet.

In the run up to a competition she is on a strict eating plan with a lean breakfast lunch and dinner and six egg whites for snacks.

But on the day she only eats rice cakes and jelly beans, consuming up to 40 rice cakes in just the one day.

Since starting her journey at a petite 46kg with 20% body fat, Shivani has been intently focused on increasing her muscle.
She said: “Bringing my meals to work is not always easy and it’s difficult to buy lunch in the City without it being loaded with sauces, sugars or bad fats.

I was lucky enough to find Fit Kitchen, a meal delivery service, who tailor my meals and deliver them fresh and ready to eat.”
Two days before the show all salt and fat has been cut from her diet and she must consume a massive 4L of water, followed up with 1L of water the next day and just 500ml to sustain her on competition day, although she will keep a full sugar coke to hand backstage “just in case I need it”!

Earlier this month we brought you news of a Swedish super-gran body builder who is still pumping iron at the age of 80, read all about her here.
