A signature event on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Marching Mocs performance calendar is now looking for high school student participants.
The Marching Mocs’ 15th annual Band Day will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, as part of UTC Homecoming festivities at Finley Stadium. That evening, the Mocs football team will play host to the University of North Alabama.
UTC Band Day is an annual event that invites area high school band students to be VIP guests of the Marching Mocs for a day.
Students get the feeling of what it is like to be in the University marching band as they participate in gameday activities—including an on-field rehearsal, a pregame performance and playing in the stands during the contest—while being mentored by current members of the Marching Mocs.
Past UTC Band Days have included more than 300 high school participants.
A unique UTC Band Day t-shirt (which must be worn by all student participants), UTC swag and lunch will be provided to participating students.
Students and bands wishing to participate should click on the Band Day registration form.
For almost 100 years, the band has been one of the most visible representatives of the institution and the catalyst for an energetic gameday atmosphere.
The Marching Mocs are led by Director of Bands Randall Coleman, who arrived at UTC in July 2021. In his first year-plus at the University, the Marching Mocs have grown to 120 students.
