December’s second millionaire is a man from Hampshire & Isle of Wight who bought his winning bond six years ago, in August 2013.

He has a Premium Bonds holding of £50,000.

In the December 2019 draw, a total of 3.4 million prizes worth more than £98million will be paid out.

There were more than 83billion eligible bonds for the draw.

People who have won prizes worth between £25 and £100,000 can find out their earnings via the prize checker on nsandi.com, the prize check app or via Alexa.

If you have Premium Bonds and think you’ve missed out on a prize, it’s always worth checking if NS&I has your correct contact details.

There are 1.6million unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes worth £63million, ranging from £25 to £100,000.

Unclaimed prizes are often a result of NS&I not being told of changes to personal circumstances, such as changes to contact details or addresses.

To reduce the risk of missing out on winnings, you can choose to have any future prizes paid directly to your bank account.

In order to do this, register your Premium Bonds and NS&I accounts online.

Since the first draw in June 1957, there have been 456million Premium Bonds prizes, worth £19.9billion.

All Premium Bonds Prizes are free of UK Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax.

NS&I reduced the minimum amount needed to save in Premium Bonds from £100 to just £25 earlier this year.

More than 70,000 savers aged 16 and under signed up to Premium Bonds in six months - but are they worth it?

And thousands of people could be missing out on £8.2million of Premium Bond prizes, just because they got lost in the post.
