HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont was scheduled to spend the weekend with his fellow governors in Washington, D.C., discussing issues ranging from infrastructure funding to increasing broadband access.
Other planned topics included strategies to curb the nicotine epidemic and better plan and prepare for disasters.
The Democrat was scheduled to return to Connecticut on Monday evening after spending five days out-of-state. Most of that time was to be spent at the 2020 bipartisan winter meeting of the National Governors Association.
Lamont was also expected to attend a meeting of the Council of Governors, a bipartisan group of 10 governors that’s responsible for providing coordination between the states and federal government on emergency threats and emergency response. Republican President Donald Trump appointed Lamont to the panel last year.
Lamont’s schedule also included a meeting with Acting Secretary of the U.S. Navy Thomas B. Modly to discuss issues concerning the U.S. Submarine Base in Groton, and a visit to New Hampshire for a Democratic presidential primary debate.
