Calling all home school parents or others interested!I'm retiring from the El Dorado Center (of Folsom Lake College) where I've been in charge of an English Center for decades. I have a BIG assortment of reading and vocabulary textbooks that I'd love to find a home for -- these range in grade level from pretty basic (about 5th grade) up to high school / college level. Most of it would be suitable for middle school or high school learners. I also have miscellaneous books on writing, novels, non-fiction books, hard back dictionaries, and office supplies. All of it needs to be saved from getting thrown away! If any of this interests you, PLEASE come by the EDC English Center, Room C213 (6699 Campus Drive) next week on Thursday, May 2 from 11:00 - 2:00. Bring a bag and get some free books! I'm debating whether to have my cedar siding replaced with fiber cement siding (Hardie board), and would like to hear from folks who have done the same, are you happy with fiber cement, is it not too hot/cold in summer/winter, any other problemswith it like cracking, fading, etc.? It's going to cost a fortune to re-side my home but would give some measure of peace of mind during fire season. I just wonder if it will make me miserable the rest of the time...
