Snowed in? Just head to VOLT

VOLT on a snowy day.

For about nine years, Volt restaurant on North Market Street has been offering a “snowmageddon” special menu that residents in the downtown Frederick area can take advantage of.

But here’s the catch, it’s only available during snow storms.

We go there a few times a month, but cant make it today because we are in sunny FL. Hope everyone is at ease knowing this now.

I'm sure we'll all sleep better tonight knowing it. If it's true, that is.

I was walking with my ex-wife on Market Street the year this place opened and we stopped here when I told her that this building used to be known as The Professional Building, and was were my dad started his medical practice years ago. Then we looked over the menu posted outside and were both shocked at the prices on it, they were absolutely absurd. I knew then and there that I would never eat at this place and, to this date, I haven't. Can I afford it? Yeah, I can. Am I willing to throw my money away? No, I'm not. This is the kind of place where people take other people to "impress" them, and I'm just a little too down home for that.

Even the way they serve the food is pretentious. But worth it to try it once, just to know how the Trump class lives.

Your father was our family doctor. And yes the place is a joke! Never ate there and never will.

CDReid

Sorry, but I don't think so steve, my dad was a radiologist.

stevehurley

My doc was Doctor Connelly (spelling) downstairs on the right side.

CDReid

Dr. Conley, steve. Yep, he and my dad were good friends. He lived on the farm on Baughman's Lane that's slated for development now, (I'm sorry to say.) I remember going there with my dad to visit him ca. 1960 or so. One thing I well remember about him was that he was a really nice man. Back then most of the doctors in town either practiced from their homes or had an office in The Professional Building. Boy, those were the good ole days, I sure do miss them.

Yup! I was raised in Frederick during the 50's and 60s', it was like living the pages out of Tom Sawyer! You know I still get my haircut at WT's.

CDReid

It's a small world, steve, my dad used to get his hair cut at WT's too, he's a Frederick icon. Kind of like Frederick's Floyd the Barber. Frederick was great back in the 50s and 60s, nowhere near the disaster it's become today thanks to the developers. I loved it when Rt 40 West was nothing but fields and orchards. Now look at it; MoCo North. What a mess a once sweet little town has become, and what a shame, too.

Your point being?

If he had more reasonable prices ($120 for dinner???) his other locations might not have closed and he might not be court ordered to pay $3.1 million to previous affiliates. https://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-md-voltaggio-cordish-20181220-story.html

jwhamann

Just keep your prices that low everyday...

newspostreader

Exactly. Then you'd do more business and could repay the 3.1 million without filing bankruptcy.

Still too rich for my blood.
