AUSTIN, TX β€” A Grimes County man was arrested Thursday nearly a year to the day of a fatal vehicle collision from which he fled, the district attorney said.

Texas Rangers members arrested Leroy Pratt, 50, of Navasota at 11:45 a.m. in connection to a fatal collision that occurred in eastern Travis County on Sept. 27, 2018, District Attorney Margaret Moore said in a press advisory.

According to the DA, a commercial vehicle collided with a 2000 Ford Ranger pickup truck near the intersection of Pearce Lane and State Highway 130 at around 9 a.m. The occupants of the truck were killed in the crash while the driver of the other vehicle left the scene of the crash, the DA said.

Texas Department of Public Safety officials launched an investigation after reaching the scene before the Texas Rangers joined the probe. Following the agencies' investigation spanning several months in conjunction with the Vehicular Crimes Special Prosecution Unit of the district attorney's office, Pratt was identified as the suspect. The case against him subsequently was presented to a Travis County grand jury, according to the DA.

On Aug. 26, Pratt was indicted on two second degree felony counts of Accident Involving Death β€” commonly known as Failure to Stop and Render Aid β€” according to the DA's office.
