DELAWARE WATER GAP, Pa. (AP) - The body of a New Jersey man was found over the weekend in the Delaware River in an eastern Pennsylvania recreation area, the fourth such death in the area this summer, authorities said.

National Parks Service officials at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area said the 30-year-old man’s body was recovered at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

A body was reported floating upstream from the Interstate 80 toll bridge shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday, and within an hour search and rescue and dive teams had recovered the body of the victim, authorities said.

Interviews with visitors indicated that the man had been with one of several large groups of people in a section of the park in Warren County on the New Jersey side of the river, officials said. The area isn’t designated for swimming or picnicking, they said.

The Monroe County coroner’s office has scheduled an autopsy Tuesday on the victim, whose name wasn’t released.

Nearly a week ago, a 32-year-old Marshall’s Creek man drowned in the river near the Bushkill Access, and other drownings occurred earlier in July and in June, officials said. None of the drowning victims were wearing life jackets at the time, they said.
