Two teenagers who were babysitting a two-year-old recorded a video of the toddler using a vaping device and shared it on Snapchat.

The video showed the boy coughing after inhaling the device while a female laughed in the background. Police became aware of the video when someone alerted them about it Sunday.

Pennsylvania state police said Sunday evening in a Twitter post that they were investigating the Snapchat video. State troopers and the Indiana Criminal Investigation Unit determined the suspects as students of United School District near Armagh, Indiana County, and charges were pending against them.

The incident occurred Thursday when the toddler was left in the care of a 17-year-old girl from Seward, Pennsylvania. The toddler took the vaping device from a nearby bedstand and used it. An 18-year-old girl was also present in the scene at the time. The teens and the child were not related, police said in a statement Monday.

About 3% nicotine is believed to have been present in the device but no Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) was found in it. The child did not display any visible effects of smoking after using the device except he coughed a couple of times, police said.

Police have notified the child’s parents as well as children’s services about the incident.
