84 new coronavirus cases, two new fatalities reported among Cleveland residents

The new cases bring the city's toll to 2,488 cases and 77 deaths.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Department of Health reported 84 new cases of coronavirus and two new fatalities among residents Thursday. 

The new cases bring the city's toll to 2,488 cases and 77 deaths. 

“Sadly, the City of Cleveland has hit another record number of coronavirus cases in a single day,” said Mayor Jackson in a press release. “Let me be clear about this - we are seeing a resurgence in coronavirus cases that will only worsen if individuals do not take proper precautions like wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing and washing your hands regularly.

The new confirmed cases include both men and women ranging in age from under 1 year old to their 80's. The Department is working to identify those who may have been in close contact with those that have been recently diagnosed. 

The fatalities included a man in his 40's and a woman in her 60's.

As of Thursday afternoon, there are 50,523 confirmed cases and 2,653 fatalities in the State of Ohio. There are more than 2.72 million confirmed cases and 128,574 deaths in the U.S.
