NKY teen charged with rape, sexual abuse pleads not guilty
ARRAIGNMENT AND HAS HIS PLEA IN COURT. ASHLEY: YEAH. JOSEPH EUBANK SAT QUIETLY IN COURT TODAY AS HIS ATTORNEY ENTERED A NOT GUILTY PLEA ON HIS BEHALF. THE FORMER COV CATH STUDENT IN COURT. EUBANK FACES ONE COUNT OF RAPE ABUSE. INVESTIGATORS SAY NOTHING CATHOLIC SCHOOL'S PROPERTY WHERE EWE BANKS WAS A STUDENT AT THE THE TIME. BOTH THE PROSECUTION AND DEFENSE ARE MOVING IT STRAIGHT TO ADULT COURT. AN ATTORNEY SAYS UNDER KENTUCKY LAW, EUBANK'S CASE FELL UNDER THE STATUTE TO TRY HIM AS AN ADULT. TODAY THE JUDGE ALSO ORDERED A NO-CONTACT RULING FOR THE ALLEGED VICTIMS. A Northern Kentucky teenager was in court Monday accused of raping one girl and sexually assaulting three others. Joseph Eubank sat quietly in court as his attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.Eubank faces one count of rape and three counts of sexual abuse. Investigators say nothing criminal happened on Covington Catholic school property-- where Eubank was a student at the time. Both the prosecution and the defense agreed to bypass the grand jury in the case, moving it straight to adult court. Attorney Rob Sanders said, under Kentucky law, Eubank's case fell under the statute to try him as an adult.Monday the judge also ordered a no contact ruling for the alleged victims. The court-appointed guardian ad litem already prevents contact, but Sanders said he wanted to cover all the bases. "Typically, in these kinds of cases it's usually a condition of bond that the defendant and anybody acting on behalf of the defendant be ordered not to have contact with the victims. All I was doing was making sure that that usually condition of bond was a condition in this case, as well," said Sanders.According to Sanders, a plea offer has been extended, but he couldn't comment as to what the terms of the offer are and if it’s been accepted.
