Serena Williams was knocked out of the US Open at the semi-final stage on Friday afternoon by Roberta Vinci in one of the biggest sporting shocks in history. The Drake Curse actually dates back to 2013, when he was appointed as the ambassador for the Toronto Raptors, his hometown basketball team. This ended badly though as they were immediately knocked out of the 2013/2014 season.
Then when Drake started to support the University Of Kentucky Wildcats, the hip-hop star actually received a cease and desist letter, via Sports Illustrated, from the team asking him to stop attending games.
Other factors in the curse, according to Sports Grid, are that Drake wrote a song about Johnny Manziel called “Draft Day,” which was released in April, 2014, and was subsequently followed by the NFL quarterback going to rehab in February, 2015.
Drake also visited the Seattle Seahawks training camp in May 2014 just after they’d won the Super Bowl. Then, in the following Super Bowl, the Seahawks lost to the New England Patriots.
