TYLER, TX (KLTV) - It's one of the busiest times of the year for plumbers, but one East Texas company made time Saturday for a special appointment.

"Miracles do happen and people have a heart," said Shelley Wilson, homeowner.

That is Shelley Wilson's belief after Milton Vanderpool and his crew from American Plumbing Company showed up at her door with an offer she couldn't refuse, free improvements to her plumbing.

"It's a blessing its truly a blessing things happen but you don't ever think it could happen to you but it does so I just thank God," Wilson said.

Wilson said for her Christmas gift her son hired American Plumbing Company to repair her kitchen sink. But, Vanderpool says that when his crew came to her home, they found the sink was the least of her problems.

"They didn't have any hot water and hadn't for three years. We think there are a lot of breaks under their house. Certainly the water heater needs replacing... it hasn't worked for a number of years and probably is leaking," Vanderpool.

Wilson says she hasn't been able to take care of the repairs because she's taking care of family and various medical expenses. "It's my dad that is in and out of the hospital he has liver cancer and so I'm helping my mother take care of him," Wilson said.

So Vanderpool and his crew decided to do something about it. He said, "Let's replace their water heater, let's replace their pipes under the house and let's give these folks a merry Christmas."

From their time, to the supplies, and even a new hot water heater, everything was donated to make this Christmas miracle happen.

"God always sends people to help you in times of need so this was truly a need I just thank God, I really do," Wilson said.

Vanderpool believes that's what the season of giving is all about, taking every opportunity to serve others.

"That's why we are here today, to communicate, that God loves them, that God cares about them and pursues them," Vanderpool said.

Vanderpool says all of the plumbing repairs are finished and with a big team it only took them around five hours.
