"Eczema, but make it eye shadow" is a mantra we can get behind.

It's estimated that roughly 32 million Americans deal with atopic dermatitis, or what is more commonly known as eczema. Depending on its severity, the skin condition can be taxing and uncomfortable, and it requires the extra step of looking for products that are formulated for sensitive skin or eczema. Nevertheless, people not only manage it but, in some cases, they even embrace their flare-ups — like Elle Fanning, who uploaded photos showing how her eczema looks just like a pretty hue of eye shadow.

The actor shared a few makeup-free selfies with her Instagram fans on September 14 along with the caption, "Eczema but make it eye shadow 😜." Fanning looks comfy and cute in a plain white tank top accented with gold jewelry.

Fanning looks gorgeous with her makeup-free skin. Her wavy, golden blonde hair is pulled back into an effortless half-up, half-down style for the perfect casual, relaxing-at-home look. The eczema on her eyes looks like a red eye shadow that was blended out for a soft wash of color on the lid. The natural oils from her lids give the flare-up a slight sheen to complete her "eye makeup look."

Facial eczema can be caused by a list of things, like cold weather, stress, the sun, and even sweat, as New York City-based dermatologist Sejal Shah previously told Allure — and because of the delicate skin on the face, the products used have to gentler than the ones used on the body.

If you're worried you may suffer from eczema, reach out to a dermatologist for a full diagnosis and to learn your options. Though eczema can be difficult to deal with, people like Fanning and others proudly embrace their flare-ups and everything else that can come with the skin condition.
