Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links ...

The brilliance of Jeff Stoutland in Roob’s Eagles Observations - NBCSP
1. Did you have a chance to watch Jeff Stoutland’s presser the other day? If not, you should. It’s required viewing. Stout’s an all-timer. Legitimately one of the greatest assistant coaches in Eagles history. It’s not even about what he says but how he says it. He’s just one of those guys you could sit and listen to all day. No matter what he’s talking about. The guy is 59 and has been coaching football for 38 years and you won’t find anybody who’s more passionate about the game. Listen to him talk about how he’s a better coach today than he’s ever been. Listen to him talk about how tough he is on his players. Listen to him get fired up talking about a Jordan Mailata / Sua Opeta combination block that sprung Boston Scott for an eight-yard gain against the Giants in the middle of a miserable 4-11-1 season. We’ve been so fortunate to have phenomenal offensive line coaches around here over the last 25 years. Juan Castillo, Howard Mudd and Stoutland have held down the job since 1998, and Stoutland may be the best of the bunch. I hope he coaches forever. The dude IS football.

Eagles’ tight ends coach weighs in on ex-Bills quarterback Tyree Jackson’s position switch - NJ.com
“It’s all new to him,” Michael said. “You go back to the simple things like being in a stance, the releases and things. It’s new to him every day and he’s taken those strides, and obviously, he has a good mental aspect from football and that helps him be able to take them into the physical (aspect). He’s done a good job of that so far.” Jackson is new to the position, but he certainly looks the part. He towered over fellow tight ends Caleb Wilson, Jason Croom and rookie Jack Stoll while awaiting reps in the offseason program.

Diving Into Why Carson Wentz Was Sacked So Often in 2020 - Horseshoe Huddle
I want to state for the record that I am not trying to nitpick Wentz in this article or call him an awful quarterback by any means. This is a legit concern, however. Wentz had a lot of issues in the pocket last year and thinking that those issues all go away with a better offensive line and scheme is just wrong.

Opinion: Mike McCarthy edges out Ron Rivera as the best head coach in the NFC East - Blogging The Boys
Again, the point here is not to say that McCarthy is great, a current top five coach, or anything like that. He is simply the best of the field that the NFC East has to offer. This philosophy holds true in a lot of places and is the exact same logic that I used in noting that Howie Roseman is the best General Manager of the group. He is simply the best of the worst. Such is life in the NFC East. [BLG Note: RJ is wrong.]

‘Valentine’s Views’: Reasons to be optimistic about the Giants - Big Blue View
Quibble about the offensive line if you want, but in my view when you look at the roster there is both front-line talent and capable depth at every position on the roster. Yes, even the offensive line, where Nate Solder, Jonotthan Harrison and Zach Fulton are all accomplished veterans.

3rd year receiver Terry McLaurin just keeps getting better - Hogs Haven
I contend that Terry McLaurin is going to build on his first two NFL seasons and rise to be among the best in the NFL in the coming seasons. First, let’s look at some simple statistics from Terry’s 29 regular season games as a pro. He caught 145 passes for 2,037 yards and 11 touchdowns. He made a 1st down on 65% of his catches, and he had just 3 drops on 134 targets in 2020. But the raw statistics above don’t really do justice to what Terry McLaurin has accomplished in his first two seasons, and how well that bodes for the future.

Le’Veon Bell apparently did not like his time with Chiefs in Kansas City - Arrowhead Pride
Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell created somewhat of a stir Saturday thanks to a reply he made on Instagram. Commenting in response to a fan on a post about an expensive McDonald’s tab (of all things), Bell expressed displeasure with his Chiefs tenure — and more specifically, playing for head coach Andy Reid. “I’ll never play for Andy Reid again,” wrote Bell. “I’d retire first.”

Why expanding the College Football Playoff makes sense - SB Nation
The College Football Playoff is exploring an expansion that would increase the field to 12 teams, facing off in a bracket format eventually leading to the National Championship game. It’s a polarizing move that pits purists against those who want to see the sport evolve, much like the original proposal of the playoff itself. However, there are far more reasons why expanding the playoffs would benefit for the sport rather than hurt it. A meeting scheduled for next week will establish whether the motion will pass, which could set in motion expansion for the 2025-26 season, when the current playoff agreement expires. The reasoning behind the decision was fairly clear from those speaking to ESPN. “This proposal at its heart was created to provide more participation, for more players and more schools,” CFP executive director Bill Hancock said. “In a nutshell, that is the working group’s message.” So, what’s the advantage of expanding the field?
