What’s Hoppin’ This Week: Anniversary parties dominate beer calendar

Thursday

The Grain Shed Brewery (1026 E. Newark Ave.) is beginning a new monthly pint night program to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. Grain Shed will be donating $1 of each pint sold throughout the day to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.

Pints Alehouse (10111 N. Newport Highway) is hosting a weekendlong, barrel-aged beer event featuring special brews from Michigan’s Founders Brewing. Twelve Founders beers will be on tap throughout the weekend. Doors open at 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday

Happy Trails to Brews (9025 N. Indian Trail Road) is celebrating its first anniversary all weekend long. Stop in to enjoy a special tap list with rare beers, giveaways and other fun throughout the weekend. Hours are 2 p.m.-midnight on Friday and Saturday.

If you have ever wanted to learn more about barrel-aged beer, The Rocket Market (726 E. 43rd Ave.) is hosting a beer class from 7-9 p.m. where participants will sample and learn about eight barrel-aged beers while enjoying snacks and other fun. Tickets are $25, and space is limited; reservations are requested.

Saturday

Chewelah’s Quartzite Brewing (105 W. Main Ave.) is throwing a party from 11:30 a.m.-9 p.m. to celebrate four years in business. Quartzite will have beer specials all night and the opportunity to purchase special anniversary beer mugs.

Black Label Brewing Co. (19 W Main Ave.) is turning 5 this weekend. From 1-10 p.m., Black Label will have live music, $5 pint specials and raffles throughout the day.

Also celebrating an anniversary – its second – Millwood Brewing (9013 E. Frederick, Millwood) will be kicking things off at 4 p.m. and celebrating with limited-release beers, including its special anniversary hazy IPA, a complimentary taco bar from the 509 Dine food truck, live music and giveaways.

Monday

Millwood Brewing and the 509 Dine food truck are again partnering up for the third of their beer dinner series. This time, the multiple-course meal is built around “tailgate food” to get you ready for the upcoming big game. Tickets are required and available online. Dinner begins at 6 p.m.

Tuesday

Selkirk Abbey Brewing (6180 E. Seltice Way, Post Falls) is hosting a chili and cornbread cook-off from 4:30-7 p.m. The competition is free and open to everyone. The winner in each category will receive a yearlong mug club membership. Stop in even if you’re not entering, try all of the items, and vote for the people’s choice award.
