HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Not even Christmas can escape coronavirus in 2020. The ongoing pandemic means many of the area’s tree farms have had to adjust hours, regulations and activities.

Fortunately, coronavirus has only changed — not completely closed — the Hudson Valley's tree farms this season. Not only is it a way to have a fresh air adventure, but also as the folks at VanScott Farms point out, when you buy directly from the farmer, you can be sure your tree was recently harvested, received plenty of water, and had expert care.

"Whether it's continuing (or starting) a family tradition, a picture-perfect holiday card photo-op, or an excuse for a seasonal outing, the search for a Christmas tree is one that the whole family can enjoy," said Amanda Dana, director of Orange County Tourism, which coined the "Chop Local" slogan.
