ANNAPOLIS, Md. (7News) — Anne Arundel County and Queen Anne's County, located on opposing sides of the Chesapeake Bay, are calling for a newer, larger way to bridge the gap.
The Anne Arundel County Council passed a resolution 6-1 Monday night, calling for Maryland to replace the Chesapeake Bay Bridge with a new structure.
You can read the council's proposal here and watch the meeting in its entirety here.
This comes on the heels of the Queen Anne’s County Council recently passing a similar resolution that calls for a new bridge at the existing site with a minimum of eight lanes to improve capacity and minimize gridlock.
Maryland transportation officials have recommended either constructing a new bridge or changing the operations of the existing bridge.
