Home Break-in During Hospital Stay: Police Blotter Mount Kisco

Westchester County cops also responded to fights; shoplifting reports; and 2 guys who brought their own chairs to snooze at the laundromat.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — Here are some of the recent calls to which Westchester County police responded in Mount Kisco.

Friday, Feb. 21 – 10:31 a.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Maple Avenue on a report of a loud dispute between two tenants. The dispute was verbal in nature only and officers advised the two parties to return to their apartments.

Thursday, Feb. 20 – 9:43 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to a business on South Moger Avenue on a report of a fight between two men. Upon arrival, officers were advised that the two men left the premises when police were called. An employee who tried to break up the fight suffered a minor injury to his arm but declined medical attention.

10:12 a.m. – Westchester County Police arrested two Mount Vernon men on misdemeanor Petit
Larceny charges on a complaint from Loss Prevention personnel at Target on North Bedford Road. Store officials contacted County Police to report that two men, ages 18 and 19, had stolen items the day before and had just come back to the store. County Police detained both men, reviewed store security video from the day before and then placed them under arrest. The two men were booked at the County Police precinct on Green Street. One was released on his own recognizance. The other was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant in New York City and was transported to the 50 th Precinct in the Bronx and turned over to the NYPD.

Wednesday, Feb. 19 – 10:19 p.m. – A North Moger Avenue resident reported that some men have been drinking alcohol in public on the street recently. He said there was no such activity going on at this time. He was advised to call police the next time he observed a violation.

5:05 p.m. – An employee at Walgreen’s on South Moger Avenue reported an attempted larceny to County Police. The employee said he observed a teenager place an item valued at $44.99 in his jacket pocket and then head toward the rear exit of the store. When the teen realized he had been observed, he went into the bathroom, placed the item on the sink and then left the store.

2:34 p.m. – Management at a laundromat on East Main Street reported that two men were sleeping in chairs there and refusing to leave. Officers responded and directed the men to leave the premises.

8:39 a.m. – Westchester County Police assisted Con Edison with making entry into a locked building in the 400 block of East Main Street, where a gas leak was suspected. No leak was detected. The Mount Kisco Fire Department also responded and secured the premises when Con Ed was done.

Tuesday, Feb. 18 – 11:55 p.m. – Westchester County Police responded to a business on South Moger Avenue on an activated alarm. It was determined that dust generated by a construction crew working in the store had triggered the alarm.

4:01 p.m. – A 17-year-old Amuso Drive resident was charged with Criminal Mischief 2 nd Degree after he damaged bedroom furniture during an argument with his mother. The boy’s mother called police to report that her son was out of control and she needed assistance. The youth was arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and released pending a future court appearance.

12:25 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Kiscona Road on a report of a person in emotional crisis who was a danger to himself. The man agreed to be taken for evaluation to Northern Westchester Hospital Center. He was transported by Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Monday, Feb. 17 – 6:41 p.m. – A Maple Avenue resident reported that his apartment had been burglarized while he had been in the hospital the past few days. A television set valued at $550 and a DVD player valued at $150 were stolen. Officers observed signs of forced entry on the apartment’s front door. The matter was turned over to detectives for additional investigation.

12:54 p.m. -- Westchester County Police responded to Rutland Drive on a report that a woman was walking up and down the street taking pictures of houses. The caller said he did not recognize the person and was concerned she was casing the block to commit burglaries in the future. Officers determined that the woman was a guest of a resident on the block. The woman said she was taking photos to show relatives back home how nice the neighborhood was.
