Woman Stole Hair Wigs, Tried To Kick Store Manager: Hamden Police

The woman is accused of trying to kick the store manager in the stomach after stealing two boxes of "human hair wigs," police said.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden woman is accused of stealing two boxes of “human hair wigs” and trying to kick the store manager while fleeing from a beauty supply store, according to police. At about 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, police responded to Hair Beauty Supply, located at 1869 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a shoplifting, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Monica Massiah entered a room, located in the rear of the store, and stole two boxes containing “human hair wigs.” Massiah ran from the store, while the store manager was chasing her. Massiah attempted to kick the store manager in the stomach and then fled in her motor vehicle, northbound on Dixwell Avenue, according to Smith.

Shortly thereafter, Massiah turned herself in at police headquarters, Smith said. Massiah, 55, of Grandview Avenue in Hamden, was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. She is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 13.
