Man Suspected Of Multiple Cat Burglaries In Palm Desert Arrested

PALM DESERT, CA — A 36-year-old parolee accused of committing several residential cat burglaries in Palm Desert remained behind bars Sunday without bail.

Daniel Olivas Ramirez was arrested on Friday in the 79000 block of Country Club Drive in Bermuda Dunes, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators said Ramirez is responsible for stealthily breaking into various homes around Palm Desert between June 21 and July 9.

"The victims were inside their homes when the suspect entered and removed property from within the residences," Sgt. Christopher Ternes said. "Cat burglaries garner a heightened level of concern from the law enforcement community because of the elevated level of risk for the victims."

Ramirez was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
