INDIANAPOLIS, IN (PRWEB) April 29, 2014

Indianapolis IN Alcohol Drug Rehab is launching an expansion of its intervention service for people that have family members and friends who are deep in their drug addiction in Indianapolis and surrounding cities.

Too many times, people that have loved ones so focused on their drug addiction that they cannot see the forest from the trees will push and pull the person so hard to go and get help. But their efforts usually fall on deaf ears because that person is not ready to get help. That funny feeling of euphoria when taking a bong hit or smoking a marijuana joint is more important than a job, relationships, or financial stability. All those go out the window, and family members are left exasperated over what to do. Their last resort usually is to reach out and seek an interventionist.

Interventionists work hard to inform the practicing addict about important consequences facing them should he or she continue on the path of destruction. Whether it is prescription drugs, Darvocet, bath salts, cocaine, methadone, or opiates, these drugs cloud an individual's way of looking at the world. An interventionist will bring in family members and friends to get a full picture of how the destructive patterns have affected home life. What takes place over one or two meetings between all concerned parties is an airing of emotional problems, identification of consequences that can be presented should the person not stop their drug abuse, and setting up plans for the actual intervention.

Family members interested in having an intervention happen for a loved one should know these professionals have done their educational work around dealing with active drug addicts. They know what to expect from an addict who chooses either to enter residential treatment or stay out on the streets. During the actual intervention, family and friends explain to the practicing addict how they have seen the person act plus how it has affected them personally. The drug addict may not care and sit in denial over anything brought up in the session. Consequences for not choosing treatment include taking car keys away and closing out all bank accounts. Others can be addressed between the interventionist and the family.
