BIS bolsters Bahrain's position in e-Governance, ICT [24X7 News Bahrain Online]


(24X7 News Bahrain Online Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MANAMA: Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) reiterated its role by bolstering Bahrain's role and activities within the global map in the fields of Internet, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and e-Governance.BIS reaffirmed its continuous role and permanent presence and participation in all meetings, conferences, and regional and global forums as part of its efforts in realising its vision and achieving its goals and aspirations."This includes all related developments in this field, whether content or applications, that serve and enhance all different walks of life and business in Bahrain," BIS in a statement said.Ali Al Meshal, BIS board member and Director of Strategic Alliances, has been elected to the membership of the Advisory Committee of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (IGF).The Secretariat of the Arab IGF made a formal announcement regarding the opening of the membership registration in the Arab IGF Advisory Committee.After completing the applications evaluation process by the Umbrella organisations represented in the Arab league and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in coordination with the Secretariat of the Arab IGF, the Forum's Secretariat confirmed Al Meshal's selection as member of the Arab IGF Advisory Committee in its new composition.The Secretariat of the Arab IGF thanked and appreciated to Al Meshal for his efforts and his continuous interest in participating to support its work in the past and through his official membership in its Advisory Committee at present. Furthermore, the Secretariat is looking forward to working actively with its new member in the coming period.BIS congratulated Al Meshal on this new position and wished him success in his new role. Moreover, BIS supports Al Meshal's and the Advisory Committee's efforts, taking into consideration the importance of Internet governance, especially in the light of quality and type of e-content across the various worldwide Internet sites and its impact and implications across all global communities.
