Storm brings more than 7 inches of rain
Crews in Warren County are busy cleaning up storm damage after severe weather rolled through the area Monday evening.VIDEO: Crews clean up debris, damage after stormThe storm passed quickly and emergency crews said some areas have received more than 7 inches of rain leaving hundreds without power.In just hours, strong winds blew down trees and knocked over power lines.John Elfer, with the Warren County Emergency Management Agency, said, "We've had numerous reports of trees down involving power lines, numerous home without electricity."A mudslide on Washington Street in Vicksburg had lanes blocked off."We have road crews right now that are trying to get county roads back open, city crews and basically were just cleaning up," Elfer said.A house on Roadrunner Street had more than a foot of water at it's doorstep. Neighbors were surprised by the extent of the damage.Samantha Varyborn, who lives on Roadrunner Street, said, "(It's) a little shocking actually. It's just trying to figure out how the people are feeling about their house being under water, but as far as our house, it's higher up so it's not flooded."Emergency crews hope relieving stopped up drains will help move some of the water.
