Bahrain Duty Free reports $13.5m profits in first nine months of 2013

The Bahrain Duty Free Complex has reported profits of $ 13,508,439 for the first nine months of 2013.

This is a slight drop from the first nine months of 2012 when profits totalled $13,544,547.

Bahrain Duty Free chairman Farouk Al Moayyed said: “The company’s board of directors has reviewed on Sunday, November 10 2013 audited financial results for the company for the nine months ended September 30 2013, which showed that the company had achieved a net profit of US$ 13.5m, which reflects the outstanding performance of the company.

“At the same time I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the executive management and all the employees for their continuous effective efforts that led us to achieve these positive great results in spite of the difficulties and the challenges.”

Managing director Abdullah Buhindi added that several new projects were underway to improve service to travellers.

“Work has started with the renewal of duty-free arrival shops at Bahrain International airport,” he said. “The official opening [is] scheduled for January next year.”

The company has also transferred its headquarters from Juffair to the new a location next to Bahrain International airport where the company runs its core operations.
