Home and Away star Emily Symons has spoken about the end of fellow Australian soap Neighbours.
Neighbours aired its final-ever episode last month, bringing the soap to an end after 37 years on screen.
Appearing on This Morning, Symons, who plays Marilyn Chambers in Home and Away, was asked by host Craig Doyle if she and her fellow cast members might be secretly happy they're now the only Australian soap airing in the UK.
"No, no, not at all, we're all very sad for our colleagues and our friends in Melbourne," she answered.
"Wasn't the finale the most beautiful episode you've ever seen?" she continued. "It was so emotional and wonderful to see all the old characters coming back – it was really special."
Neighbours bowed out with an hour-long finale featuring the much-hyped returns of Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue as Scott and Charlene Robinson. When all was said and done, the final episode managed to pull in a massive 4 million viewers on Channel 5.
Meanwhile, Neighbours' executive producer Jason Herbison spoke to Digital Spy recently about whether the buzz surrounding the finale had left him hopeful for a future revival.
"We've always said we are resting the show so anything is possible," Herbison said. "I don't want anyone to move on from the love they have for the show. I hope the fan communities continue and people continue to discuss the past characters and storylines.
"Ramsay Street is eternal and I meant what I said in Susan's monologue. We need to keep celebrating it, including those who have watched us from afar..."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
In Australia, the show airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 and streams on 7plus.
Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
