Lindsay Lohan denies she does cocaine with her mother... and is furious Fox suggested she could end up like Philip Seymour Hoffman

Lindsay Lohan was not amused when a Fox Channel commentator said on Friday she does cocaine with her mother.

The Mean Girls actress - who has visited rehab at least a half dozen times - had her lawyer fire off a letter to the network slamming the remark made by Michelle Field during an episode of Great American Panel with Sean Hannity.

Especially 'hurtful' was that it was suggested the 27-year-old could end up like Philip Seymour Hoffman - who died of a heroin overdose on February 2 - according to a legal letter obtained on Thursday by TMZ.

Fox has yet to publicly respond to the letter written by Heller & Heller. The Liz & Dick star's attorney asked Fox to apologize and retract their comment.

The letter started off, 'Recently, on February 14, 2014, the Fox News Channel broadcasted a blatantly false, malicious, defamatory and reckless statement on the program entitled Great American Panel hosted by Sean Hannity.

'The outrageously slanderous and defamatory statement was made by FOX News Channel's guest Michelle Fields who is a frequent commentator on Fox News and is a correspondent/host for Next Generation TV.'

The letter also stated: 'During the show's broadcast, Ms Field inappropriately and shockingly said, unequivocally and as a matter of fact, that "Lindsay Lohan's mom is doing cocaine with her" - which statement is false.'

Lindsay's mother Dina was arrested on suspicion of a DUI In Long Island in late 2013.

The George Rule star's father Michael was involved with a 911 call in Florida on Monday where his baby's mother Kate Major accused the patriarch of threatening her with a knife.

That claim that was later retracted by Major.

Lindsay's attorney went on to remark: 'The show's theme was celebrity deaths by drug overdose and included Philip Seymour Hoffman, Anna Nicole Smith, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Cory Monteith and Elvis.'

Lindsay's lawyer took special note of how a Fox commentator could see the actress' death 'coming.'

The lawyer argued such a remark 'no doubt contributes to the emotional weakening of these victims that pushes them further into the dark tunnel from which there is no return.'
